Dear ,

It is about time for a Puglia update. There is so much going on!
Even though I did not want to go in August, because of the extreme heat (38 degrees!), I have visited three times this month.

Those who follow me on Instagram @tinytrullo may have already seen some news. In this email, I provide the latest info and I will answer these frequently asked questions:

  • How are the olive trees doing?
  • Is experimental medicine working?
  • When will Tiny Trullo be finished?
  • Can I stay in your tiny house?
  • I want to invest in real estate in Puglia, where do I start?
  • Can I visit the following olive oil harvest?

Enjoy, and I hope to see you in Puglia soon!
Save my olive trees!
The deadly Xylella bacteria, that is killing all the olive trees in Puglia, has  arrived on my land... 😢 In this blog I explain what it is and what the implications are. Even though there is officially no cure, I am now trying out various experimental solutions. My new blog is about these attempts to save my olive trees.
‘My’ village is becoming more and more popular
The quiet, authentic village of Ceglie Messapica has not only captured my heart, but everybody who visits it seems to fall in love.
Sylvia, a participant of my first ‘Puglia inspiration trip’, and her husband have bought a lamia (house) on a beautiful plot of land in the area.
My friend Birgit had already bought some land further away, in Carovigno. While waiting for the construction to start there, she stayed in ‘my village’. She loved it so much that she also bought an apartment there!
My friend Ton, who had never visited Puglia, immediately understood the appeal of the village and the investment opportunity and joined me in buying another apartment that was offered. He visited on the day of the notary transfer and fell in love with the village and the apartment.
Some participants of the last inspiration trip are also in the process of searching for or buying an apartment or some land. Are you triggered as well? During my next Puglia inspiration trip from Oct 27-31st, you can stay in my village, and see my real estate, I will share all ins and outs and we will visit some land and apartments for sale.

Tiny Trullo becomes famous?
So many people are inspired by my Tiny Trullo adventure 🙏🏻
My story was featured in the ‘green’ newspaper ‘Krant van de aarde’.

VIP oil delivery
While I was on the Dutch island of Terschelling, I visited ‘de Eilandbistro’ where they serve my olive oil. The amazing French bistro, where you feel like in a Michelin star restaurant, has adopted one of my olive trees, to always be assured of the fresh oil with a bite. I made a reel video of my visit and the VIP oil delivery. If you visit Terschelling, I highly recommend dinner here!

Construction update
It feels like I am kind of ‘taking over’ the village with all the real estate I have bought (some together with a partner/investor)... I am managing three construction projects right now, with two different construction teams, all in Italian by the way.

“This Is Italy!” Of course everything goes differently and takes longer than you think… :) But progress is being made. This is where we stand so far:

          - My trullo has been renovated. I have spent some beautiful nights there and my Virtual Assistant Jelena, who happened to be in the neighborhood, spend ten days there during the hot summer. It was more like camping because the bathroom in the tiny house next door was not ready yet… Internet has been installed! The Trullo has a big double bed and the small room next door could sleep a short person (the bed is only 1.80m).

          - The tiny house will be finished end of September. It will have a shared bathroom, so people staying in the trullo can also use it. There will also be a modern kitchen and bedroom, floor heating, air conditioning, a fireplace, and an outside shower. The bedroom has a double bed and the living room has a sleeping sofa. So the trullo and tiny house could sleep 6, max 7 people.

          - The townhouse (from the year 1100!) in the center of the village, needed a HUGE make-over. The main goal was to reveal the beautiful stone dome ceilings again. But literally, everything needed to be redone: all electricity, plumbing, and even a floor needed to be replaced. 2,5 modern bathrooms will be installed, floor heating, air conditioning, and modern workspaces. The roof terrace at the top of the hill in the center of town overlooks the village square and borders the castle, cathedral, and church. It is really a unique location. The house has 4 rooms: 2 bedrooms, one office room with a sleeping sofa and one kitchen with a big dining/working table. Each room has a balcony facing the small old street. The townhouse can sleep 6. Of course, it will have razor-fast internet. It will be a paradise for digital nomads or remote workers. I hope it will be finished in time for the Puglia inspiration trip.
          - Studio: I found this cute apartment next to the hospital, only 5 mins walk from the main square, in a super authentic street where three generations of neighbors sit on the stairs in the evening to discuss the day. It is a small studio with an ‘alcove’ bedroom with a big double bed. After a renovation in September, it will have a cute but modern bathroom and a kitchen island with a bar/workspace.
If you feel like staying in one of these places in the coming fall/winter/spring, please send me a message. While I am building a booking website, you’ll get a special deal as a TinyTrullo fan. It is a unique chance to stay there and test everything out, even before it is accessible to the general public.
Want to enjoy the (last?) olive harvest?
As this year may be my last harvest, the pre-order waiting list is growing. If you want to be assured of your freshly pressed olive oil, pre-order it quickly. This may also be your last chance to witness the olive harvest on location. During the Puglia inspiration trip, I will ensure you get that unique experience.
So much for the 'Tiny Trullo newsflash'...

Ciao!

Esther
